One dressage judge’s comment sums up Mayfair in a sentence “a well named elegant horse”.
Mayfair is a British bred Hanoverian. Her father, Medoc, was originally selected by the German commission to stand at the state stud in Celle. He is now standing in the UK and has gone from Novice to Advanced Medium level dressage in the last two years. He was previously a Grade B showjumper, jumping A and B courses with ease. Medoc combines excellent conformation, elastic paces, outstanding jumping ability and wonderful temperament, all of which he has passed on to his daughter.
Mayfair started a short but successful competition career in dressage in 2002. After being broken in she went to the yard of dressage rider, Damian Hallam in March 2002. She qualified for both the Winter 2002 and Summer 2003 Novice Regional Championships following which her competitive life culminated in a trip to Addington Manor, Buckinghamshire, to take part in the British Hanoverian Horse Society Mare Performance Test where she exceeded all expectations. After showing her ability in the loose jumping, she underwent the ridden section with both Damian and a test rider. She was crowned Champion Mare and was one of only two mares on the day to be awarded ‘Elite’ status, the British equivalent of State Premium Status.
