Waleska's dam sire line goes back to the great Cardinal via Cavalier.
Cardinal stood at the private breeding station Schmidt-Ankum from 1970 to 1976. In a recent profile of this important stallion in 'The Hanoverian' he is described as having 'a high nobility, large frame, light poll, good development of neck and withers, ideal top-line, delicate foundation and sensational movement'. Most importantly for a sire, he truly stamped his offspring and they were usually dark with fine face markings and several white feet. Cardinal proved to be a very popular choice of sire for a great number of mare owners due to all his progeny having pleasant personalities and excellent rideability. Cardinal’s most important son was Cavalier born in 1971 from the State Premium Mare, Fackel (Ferdinand / Axel).
