Donna-Anna is a young horse with all the power and presence that you would expect from the most famous of the Donnerhall bloodlines.
Donna-Anna is a British bred Oldenburg and her pedigree needs no introduction. Her sire, Donnerhall, was the world's most successful dressage stallion. He not only gained an outstanding reputation as a sire through the number of his approved sons, decorated daughters and numerous offspring who have become world class sports horses but also as a competitor himself. Amongst his many achievements was his part in the German National Team who won Gold at the 1994 and 1998 World Championships and 1997 European Championships.
Her dam,
Pik Dame, is by the legendary stallion,
Pik Bube, who was a successful sire in his own
right but he became one half of the magic equation:
Donnerhall x Pik Bube, as the majority of successful
Donnerhall progeny are out of
Pik Bube mares. At the famous
Grönwohldhof stud farm he formed a successful partnership with Herbert Rehbein
and they won 11 out of 12 advanced classes in their only competition season in
1980. He is one of the most important Hanoverian stallions and although he
passed away in 1991, he still ranks in the top 50 dressage sires of the last 10
years. Pik Bube was an outstanding
moving horse and he passed on his movement and trainability to his offspring. As
a broodmare sire, Pik Bube has been a
phenomenon - Davignon, Don Primero, Don Schufro,
Donatelli, Donnerbube, Dream of Glory, Duntroon - all bred from the
magic cross Donnerhall/Pik Bube.
Donna-Anna's Competition Achievements:-
Hickstead 2003 - top 10 finalist of the Rhinegold 5 year old Dressage Horse Championship
British Dressage Young Horse and Breeding Championships - top 10 finalist of the 2003 Shearwater 5 year old Potential International Dressage Horse at Addington Manor Equestrian Centre
Badminton 2003 - Finalist in the Badminton Young Horse Championship.
National Dressage Championships - Finalist in the 2003 National Novice Open Championship
Although branded Oldenburg, Donna-Anna is 75% Hanoverian throughout her pedigree and is, therefore, eligible to enter the studbook of the British Hanoverian Horse Society. She attended the Stud Book Inspection and undertook the Mare Performance Test in September 2003, ridden by Clair Gordon. Donna-Anna was accepted into the Main Stud Book of the Society and passed the Mare Performance Test with a score of 8.11 (gaining marks of 9 for rideability, 9 for walk, 8 for trot, 8 for canter and 8 for scope in the loose jumping section). She was the highest placed Oldenburg mare and was 2nd overall.

Following her qualification for the Winter National Elementary Championship in 2004, we decided to let Anna have a foal. The stunning international dressage stallion, Rohdiamant, was chosen and the 2005 foaling season got off to a brilliant start on 5th March when her beautiful chestnut filly, Rohanna, arrived at 4.30 a.m. It is always a worry when mares come to foal for the first time but Anna has treated motherhood in the same manner as everything else and is loving every minute of it!!
We feel very privileged to have a horse with such tremendous presence, character and kindness, whether it be in a dressage arena or more recently, as a broodmare. She continues to surprise and delight us and is proving to be an exceptional mother.
Progeny:-
2005 Rohanna, a filly, by Rohdiamant - SOLD
2007 Sanya Anna, a filly, by Sandro Hit - SOLD
